"Contrasts & Colour," an exhibit by Les Bonnes Artistes, will be on display Dec. 9 through Feb. 21 at Coastal Discovery Museum, 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.

An artists' reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 15. The event is free and open to the public.

The works in the exhibit include delicate watercolors, dynamic collages, luscious oil paintings and innovative printmaking.

According to Joyce Nagel, a member of the group, "The title, 'Contrasts & Colour' brings to you the artists' interpretations and inspirations of the exciting visual candies of their art visions."

Les Bonnes Artistes (translation: The Good Artists) is an informal artist group founded by Doris Shay in 2007. The artists meet monthly to share ideas on various aspects of seeing, doing and exhibiting art.

The group has shown its work at various Hilton Head Island venues over more than a decade.

In addition to Nagel, this year's group includes Joanna Chalson, Annie Coughlin, Jo Dye, Nancy Ridgway, Doris Shay, Barbara Spencer, Dorothy Steelman, Donna Varner, Irene Williamson and Emily Wilson.

Though the membership of the group might have changed over the years, the goal has remained the same: to encourage the production of fine art in each artist's medium.

The temporary exhibit space at the Museum's Discovery House is open from 9 .m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
