Scott and Christine Wellinger of Bluffton have opened Senior Helpers of Hilton Head to serve aging adults in the Lowcountry.

After 25 years of service as a law enforcement officer, Scott Wellinger began the business to continue to help others.

Christine Wellinger, co-owner of Senior Helpers, serves as its Director of Client Relations. She currently provides home care for the family's 7-year-old special needs child, and previously worked in banking management for 15 years.

Senior Helpers, a leader in the senior home care industry, focuses on client care and assisting seniors with dementia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. The company provides a full spectrum of services to the community's aging adults.

  • Brad Tholen Home Inspectors LLC is now doing business as Horizon Home Inspectors.

Under its new brand, Horizon Home Inspectors provides residential and commercial property inspection services for Realtors, homeowners, home buyers and home sellers in Southern Beaufort County.

In 2013, company owner and president Brad Tholen began operations under his own name until the rebranding in October 2017. Tholen chose the new brand to reflect the growth of the business and to create a more regional image.

Tholen remains with the company as the sole owner, president and one of three inspectors in the growing business.

Lexie Frazier and Alex Castellanos have joined The Alliance Group Realty as buyer agents with The McTernan Team.

Frazier, originally from Connecticut, moved to the area with her family in 1994. She has a degree in Hospitality from Harrison College and worked in hospitality for 16 years.

She most recently worked as an on-site agent for a local home builder.

Castellanos has lived in the area for the past 18 years. He has experience in construction and has worked with Habitat for Humanity for four years.

He is fluent in Spanish and will be assisting The McTernan Team with their Spanish-speaking clients.

  • Three books published by Lydia Inglett Publishing, headquartered on Hilton Head Island, have been named as a winner and two finalists in the 14th annual USA Best Book Awards.

"Dogs, The Family We Choose" by Melanie Steele, photography by Holli Murphy, was a winner in the Animals-Pets: General category.

"Still Before The Dawn" by Jody Bennett Reichel was a finalist in the Spirituality: Inspirational category.

"Charleston Salt and Iron," edited by Wendy Nilsen Pollitzer, was a finalist in the Non-Fiction: Narrative category.

The annual awards competition drew more than 2,000 entries this year.
