Alice Risley moved to Hilton Head Island last year from West Islip, N.Y.
In addition to assisting buyers and sellers with home purchases, she brings her experience and skill in interior design to her real estate work by staging homes for sale. She also organizes and helps sellers clear out after a sale.

Joe Laferrera has lived in Bluffton for 18 years, having moved from Staten Island, N.Y. He is a graduate of the New York City Police Academy, the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and the South Carolina Fire Academy.

Matt Walley has joined the team at the Joan Kelly Group at Keller Williams Realty as director of sales. He also will be working with buyers and sellers.
Walley grew up in Pittsburgh and has lived in New York City, Berlin and Zimbabwe, with extended stays in Italy, Spain and Israel. He recently relocated back to Hilton Head Island.
Walley comes from a family steeped in real estate since 1898, when his great-grandfather opened the Walley Agency in the Pittsburgh area. The business was handed down from generation to generation. Walley worked with his father from 1989 to 1995, when he relocated to New York City to become an opera singer.
Walley and his wife moved to Hilton Head in 2004 and he joined Keller Williams Realty as a team leader. In this position, he went on to lead KW offices in the Southeast and in South Africa.

The practice plans to provide additional apprenticeships for other positions in the future.
The Ready SC apprenticeship program is an "earn while you learn" training model that combines structured on-the-job training, job related education, and a scalable wage progression. Participating businesses earn an annual tax credit for each employee in the program.
In the first ten years of the program, South Carolina registered 965 programs with 28,304 through 2017.
Apprenticeship programs are available in many industries, including manufacturing, construction, energy and utilities, healthcare, information technology, tourism and service industries, and transportation and logistics.
Several local experts will discuss effective methods for finding and retaining quality candidates. Business owners, managers, HR representatives, and those responsible for recruiting are welcome to attend.
Dr. John Salazar of USCB will be the keynote speaker and will analyze the demographics of local counties and their effect on employment. Additional speakers will discuss changes in immigration and visa laws, transitioning for military veterans, recruiting the Hispanic community, and strategies for retaining good employees.
The cost for the event is $25 and includes lunch.

Demetra Ladson has joined Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) on Hilton Head Island as its new medical records support manager.
Ladson, a native islander, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and received an MBA from University of Phoenix. She previously worked as a billing specialist at South Carolina Oncology Associates in Columbia.
