Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

It is with hearts full of gratitude that the Pregnancy Center and Clinic of the Low Country (PCCLC) wishes to make public the $7,500 grant which the Long Cove Club Community Charitable Fund (within the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry) has donated to PCCLC.

These funds are targeted to give 18 women free prenatal care for the first 16 weeks of their babies' development. This prenatal care time period is critical to the healthy maturity of the unborn baby and will give his or her mother the best chance of birthing a healthy child.

What greater gift can a group of Hilton Head homeowners offer to its community than to assist women who do not have the medical insurance, nor the money, to seek medical assistance while pregnant? That's why this sum of money is so special, because it gives the women a better chance to insure the healthy development of the child growing quickly in her womb.

Thank you, Long Cove Plantation homeowners! You've empowered PCCLC to take your generous donation and embellish it with the merciful blessings of medical care to 18 women in our community who desperately want to give their unborn children the best chance of being born healthy.

What an example you are to all of us who could follow in your footsteps for other pregnant women who need our help.

Pam Rice

Executive Director, PCCLC
